Brad Pitt has passed the torch of his midcentury modern Los Angeles dwelling to another Golden Globe-winning actor. According to TMZ, Austin Butler paid $5.2 million for the F1 star’s three-bedroom, two-bathroom Los Feliz home in an off-market deal. Pitt bought the 1960-built abode from oil heiress and philanthropist Aileen Getty in 2023 for $5.5 million and listed it just last month—only a short time after the home was burglarized while the actor was out of town.
Known as the Steel House, Butler’s new glassy hillside pad was designed by architect the Neil A. Johnson. The SoCal residence boasts panoramic city views. It’s an L-shaped structure which spans about 2,000 square feet, with period-appropriate details, including terrazzo flooring, beamed ceilings, and a statement midcentury modern–style freestanding fireplace in the living room. Walls of glass fill the open-plan dwelling with natural light and frame views of the backyard terrace, which features a curvy swimming pool and spa.
Elsewhere on the grounds of the estate are a cold plunge and sauna tucked amongst lush foliage. The primary bedroom’s standout design feature is cobalt blue carpeting; its ensuite bath has a built-in soaking tub carved out of the floor, adjacent to a glass-walled shower and a floating vanity in a pale mint hue, matching the bespoke dressers in the walk-in closet as well as the cabinetry in the home’s sleek kitchen. The latter space features stainless steel countertops, a picture window above the sink, and a cutout above the stove, offering sight lines out into the living and dining areas.
